reactive hypoglycemia is kicking my butt
How many calories you consume has nothing to do with RH - it's how those calories are made up. Also exercise is not usually a factor either. If these symptoms surface when you exercise you need to see a doctor - it could be something much more serious than just RH.
Most people are able to resolve RH by combining any carbohydrate ingested with protein and fat ... Only very rarely does it necessitate medical intervention.

I do not eat any refined sugars and only 1 slice of whole wheat bread when I do have any breads. I east about 300 calories per meal, protein making up the majority and veggie or fruit with it. It seems like when I expend a lot of energy I get low blood sugar. I am diabetic prior to my rny and dr. said I will always be diabetic but I thought what I was experiencing was hypoglycemia?
Are you testing your blood sugar during these episodes? It may not be RH at all. I had the exact same symptoms before and my blood sugar was normal. If it is low blood sugar what I found works best is a protein bar or some cheese and crackers (gluten free for me), or a protein drink. I have even had a blended sugar free coffee drink from Dutch Brothers and it helps. I always kept something close by but it's been over a year (knock on wood) since I've had it hit, thank God. It is a very scary feeling.
