What is an appropriate number of grams of carbs we should consume per day early out? I avoid carbs as much as possible (pretty much all my meals are nothing but protein), but I do have a snack at the end of the day which contains 11 g of carbs (it's s the Simply Protein crisps, 15g protein). The only other food item that has carbs in my day today was my bean veggie pattie (13g carbs). So for the whole day ate 24g carbs. Is this too much? What is a good range to aim for?

Your brain needs between 50-100 grams to function at 100%. But its more about making good carb choices like beans, and veggies.

I don't worry too much about carbs. I look at protein to calories. I try and get at a minimum 5 grams of protein for every 115 calories. If I stick to that I find the carbs take care of themselves.

Thank you both, I guess I'm a bit under then lol. I do eat a lot of beans most days (fat free refried, kidney, black beans, etc), and lotsss of fat free/low fat cheese. I'm doing great protein wise just wasn't sure if I was over, or now I'm guessing under, my carb goal. I have always been super cautious about carb with my pre-diabetes pre-OP and aimed for complex carbs, avoided simple, etc. Now that we have to focus all on protein I'm figuring out how much easier it is to stay way under the carb limits (albeit I do want my brain to work at 100%!).

Your NUT's plan should spell out what ranges to be in as far as calories, carbs, protein etc, but it sounds like you're eating dairy & complex carbs (beans, cheese), so your total carb count may be over 24. Are you tracking your food? It's a good habit to be in and can help you keep tabs on all your nutritional values. In the first year, my plan specified 70+g protein daily and keeping carbs in the range of 30-50g daily, but was a pretty restrictive plan.... In maintenance, I try to keep my carbs under 80-90g daily.

We need to collectively back off the carbophobia.  Refined sugar in processed foods ought to be avoided but if it grew from the ground you really shouldn't concern yourself with it.

Our ideal diet should not be considered "high protein" or "low carb," it is best characterized as, "Low sugar and low fat with adequate protein."

Eat those fruits, veggies, and whole grains!

I just noticed you're only two months out so you're still a special case.  My comments are in regard to our lifetime approach to eating once we reach cruising altitude.
