I took a couple doses of Milk of Magnesia, once it had been a week for me, immediately post surgery. It worked like a charm. I also made a note in my book of when BMs happened, and if there had been no action in 3 days, I took a little MOM on the 4th day and got things moving again. Now I make sure to have a bit of fruit each day.

I used Milk of Magnesia also. The nurse at the hospital told me to put 2 oz in a coffee cup, with 2 oz of prune juice. Then warm it in the microwave and drink. It really didn't taste so bad either. I am still taking stool softeners (had surgery in July, 2013) and occasionally the milk of magnesia mix. Good luck.

I needed 2 doses of Miralax and that did the trick for me.

I came home with poly glycol powder.  One dose and it did the trick.  Now I keep track and if its been several days I take another dose.
