I'm three weeks post op today. I tend to feel crummy and nauseas everyday until around noon then not so awful. When on average do you start feeling better?

thx

It took a good six months at least for me to feel somewhat normal again. At that point I had a pretty good handle on what I could eat and not eat and my complete exhaustion had finally gone away.

Thanks Laura. Yikes that seems like a long time.  At least I get to lose weight during that time. Lol

I lost 100 pounds in the first six months, so yeah, that definitely helped me feel better.

Most people get better in a few weeks or few months. I learn that warm liquids in the morning helped with the pouch. But I am 5 years out and I still have many days a week that I need to wait 1-4 hrs before I can eat solid foods. I learned to recognize that and don't pu**** I may have as shake or a few bites of some light food.

I felt great a few days post-op and was back at work full time, after 1 week. My husband felt great about the same time, but due to the physical demands of the job he held at the time, he was home 2 weeks.

One thing we both found--the more we exercised and were very regimented in our vitamin, protein and hydration intake we felt great! If we were not, then we often felt less than stellar.

Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

I was mostly normal by the end of 3  - 4 weeks.

I never felt poorly though beyond the standard pain from having surgery..My tummy muscles were sore.

I am 3 weeks post op and feeling good. What I have discovered is that if I start feeling bad I either need protein or water and then I start feeling better

I think I started feeling better at a month out....but I had issues with eating and drinking for awhile. Take it easy and don't try to rush anything. I still sometimes eat to fast and OMG....I am a year out and twice in the past few weeks I was sick for about 1/2 hour cause of it. Good Luck on your journey!
