I made the mistake of buying the no sugar added. Although it tasted good, it made me feel kinda yucky. It has too many carbs and sugar in it anyways for us to drink(at least I think so) It has 10g of carbs and 7g or sugar it in. I'd ask your surgeon what he/she suggest but my opinion is that i'd stay away from that one until you are more out.

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

The one labeled diet has less sugars. Try this though.

Wow! Just wanted to say that you have done an awesome job! I can't click on your recipe but I use:

1 tbsp. hershey cocoa unsweetend

1/4 tsp imitation vanilla

2 sweet and low and 1 natrasweet

3/4 cup water and 1/4 milk

Don't have to use that much sweet and low (fake sugar) just like mine sweet

I am so hooked on it. By the way I am a year out and down to 95lbs. Started at 176. My doctors were getting a little concerned because I was losing too much weight got down to 90 lbs. Really working hard (eating like crazy) LOL to gain weight. However, i feel great! Everyone's chocolate recipe does sound good. I did drink swiss miss diet all the time but it got way to expensive!!

Ooh! I didn't even THINK about hot cocoa! I'm buying that stuff tomorrow!

Would it ever work to add protein powder, do you think? I know there can be problems when things get hot...

Sure, you can add protein powder.

Mix the protein powder with a couple ounces of milk or room temp water and stir until you get a smooth paste.  Make sure there are no lumps.  Then stir that paste into your hot cocoa.

I have SF hot chocolate with protein powder almost every weekday morning, and have for over 5 years.  I just buy regular lower sugar packets of the hot chocolate and then add either chocolate or vanilla protein powder.  the vanilla makes it taste like you melted a marshmallow in it.

The Diet is actually less sugar and less carbs than the Sugar Free!  Its crazy!!   I just found this out myself not too long ago after reading labels.

Buy the diet Swiss Miss and mix it into organic, skim, or lactose-free milk (get "fat free" of course). Less calories, fat, etc. I don't know about you but I have to use lactose-free milk now because too much regular milk makes me sick.

I buy diet swiss miss, but I mix mine with water, always have, and a smear of fat free whipped cream with cinnamon sprinkled on for decoration :).
