Red, hot rash around incisions 4 days post op?
Is this normal? They don't hurt worse than before but the area around them is hot to the touch and quite red and "angry" looking. I finally got the nurse to allow me to email her a picture so now I just wait to see what she says. Just curious if others had this issue since I haven't seen any posts about it! If only this website were up to date I would include a picture but alas, attaching pics appears to be impossible :)

I was allergic to the adhesive used.

I had an allergic reaction to the tape they used it even pulled off some of my skin when they finally came off. But yes red angry and hot. I've never had a reaction to adhesive before but since then even bandaids cause issues for me now.

Is there a reason you did not just go to Urgent Care? I pretty much have to have a limb broken or be knocked out to go to the ER.

Not everyone has access to Urgent Care. I've lived in my town since 2000 and we only got an Urgent Care place here a few years ago. ER might be all the OP has access to!

Thanks for all of the concern! My doctor's office saw the pic I sent and advised me to come to the ER so they could see me. A $150 co-pay later...grrrr...
Turns out I have ecchymosis which is bruising. So after 4 hours I came home but with antibiotics just in case :) at least my mind is at peace! And the doctor took off the strips and the wounds are all healing well with no drainage or leaks so they remain uncovered. Overall I feel good and I am fitting in my liquids so I am glad this scare is over and optimistic that tomorrow will be a great day!
