ah... food stuck..

Well THAT was fun.  I'm 3 weeks out from my surgery and I am at work today. I brought some tofu and some farina for protein today, which was delightful until I half-sneeze and accidentally swallow a big ole chunk of tofu with no chewing.  So guess what I got to do today?  Yeap! I just spent over an hour feeling stuck somewhere between needing to burp, wanting to gag and nauesea. Oh so awesome. FINALLY, I submitted to the want and let myself just throw-up, which actually turned out to be just a major gag-reflex, after which the food passed and I immediately felt 100% better.

WOW JUST WOW.  THAT was AWFUL. hahah I mean, it's much less than many folks go through but as my first experience with something /not/ going right, it was a bit of a concern.  I talked to my surgeon as well and he is not terribly concerned about the food passing into the process now that it is unstuck. :)   hahaha Now I feel like puree'ing everything into oblivion before it gets anywhere near my face! Right?! :P

Oh I bet that was concerning being at work. I got a piece of Brussel sprout stuck last week. It took about a hr for me to cough and burp it up. I was pacing around the house and starting to get anxious wondering how long I would be in pain and it would take. My poor husband had just sat down to eat his extremely large steak. Ironically the next day everyone was talking about brussel sprouts on OH. I love them, but not looking forward to eating any soon for sure. I know the "lets just eat mushy thoughts for sure"!

I wish there was a "like" or "YUP!" button like they have on Facebook, just so that I could let folks know that I enjoyed their responses. hahah

Has anyone ever suggested a "Like" button to the powers-that-be at OH?  There are so many posts I enjoy and/or agree with, but I don't have anything new to add to the conversation.  It would also benefit the writer of the post to see that some people acknowledge their post, rather than see that ~100 viewed it and only 1 had an actual written response.

I know how you feel, but unfortunately I think it turns everything into a popularity contest because this isn't the same as FB - we are not all friends already ...

We have had threads on here complaining about the number of views compared to the number of replies and how upsetting it is.   I think the "like" would make some people feel great, and others feel crappy and I can't see OH going for it!

I know, right? I've always felt puking is one of the worst things the body can do to itself (disease aside), and so going into this- naturally I was really worried about all the nausea. However, my doctor has had me on Prilosec and it's really really amazing.  So this was the very first time since I was put under that I got pukey.  So far, this has been quite a positive experience.

....just don't inhale, literally, food- because wow... Im still surprised how quickly the feelings subsided once the food dislodged.
