Hi No I'd say this isn't easy so gear up for it.  Talk yourself into that this doesn't hurt and that you'll be fine.  With or without someone there.

My Hubby was there the day of surgery and I liked having him there after recovery and getting set up in my room.  He went home about I pm that night to care for our toddler.  My big kid stayed with my Mom the 2 nights.

He came back the next day and left about 3 pm and then I went home the next day by 11

My husband stayed in the hospital, but I was there less than 24 hours and he was required to stay until I was in my room, which did not happen until 5 hours after my surgery ended. We planned my recouperation at our home that is about an hour from the hospital, though I guess he could have stayed at our home that is 30 minutes the other direction. Why that did not occur to us at the time, I am not sure. Anyway....he could have gone home and gotten up the next morning and come back, but basically it would have been a monumental waste of time and so we just had him stay. Bu ti certainly did not have to have him there. Many patients had no one with them based on conversations I had when out on my walks.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
