What did your doctor suggest? Here is something I found on web md:

Other supplements help with the absorption of calcium too. Your vitamins D and K have to be sufficient to make the best use of calcium.

FWIW, my doctor recommended only increasing my calcium (and D) dosage. I have some bone loss in one hip and a general thinning in my lower spine. Not sure why the distinction between loss and thinning. Not sure if my age plays into that or not (will be 52 this summer and in menopause)c
He indicated that the medications available are often hard on the stomach (I did not do any research, so I am only relaying what he said on this) and so he was concerned because of the RNY. We decided to increase the supplements and repeat in one year instead of two, and then revisit the issue.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
She suggested I up my calcium and D when I informed her what I was already taking she suggest I leave it alone until the next scan. She said there is no way of knowing when it occurred since this was my baseline. I had major calcium loss during one of my pregnancies to the point of a couple of teeth falling out due to the baby taking calcium from my bones.
