I went from Google to surgery in 3 weeks so not all of us need or had 6 months of qualifying.   There are many here, particularly vets, who didn't have any pre-surgery requirements.

OP - you should tell us what you feel is overwhelming you and maybe we can help with information and advice!

Overwhelming was probably too strong of a term to use.  It is more related to the fact I have sort of been in denial about my weight for a long time.  I knew it was there and an issue (difficult to totally ignore!), but I am a very happy person and try to live life to the fullest.  I  have done a lot of research.  I know this is what I need to do.  It just happened kind of quickly.  Nothing I can't handle.  I have obtained a lot of information and advice from this site.  Thank you for your concern. I appreciate it.

Well, that's good, but if you need anything - just ask!   Where do you live, BTW?  I'm in Castle Rock!

Thanks!  I may take you up on that!  I'm in Roxborough...not too far from you.

Thank you for your concern.  As far as the quick process to get WLS scheduled...I cannot really speak to that.  I do need to clarify that "overwhelmed" may have been too strong of a term.  It just happened so quick.  However, I have done a lot of research and I know this is the right decision for me.  I am 100% on board and committed.   Take care.

Welcome! This is a great site and some wonderful people. Do your research, but don't be afraid to ask questions.

There are always some people with unusual experiences, and they often are the most vocal. But most of us had very similar recoveries from surgery, and I'm sure you will too.

Good luck, and let us know how you're doing.

Thank you so much! I'm planning on being part of the "norm". If I stray... I know where to get some advice. I appreciate you reaching out.

Hi Rachel,

Congrats on getting a date.  It is a lot to take in, a lot to learn and a lot of trial & error.  I had surgery November 2013, best decision I ever made.  This OH board, in particular the RNY boards are awesome (in my opinion), everyone is so nice and helpful.  Happy to help you out in anyway I can, just ask. Congrats on making this decision for you and your husband and kids.  I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

Daisy

Thanks Daisy! It's great to hear about your success and confidence in your decision. From what I've seen, the support here is awesome! I'm definitely doing this for myself. However, my hubby and boys motivate me even more. I had my youngest at 40... And he is VERY active. Need all the energy I can get! I look forward to talking with you more!
