Extended release meds?

Is it extended release meds we should stay away from?        How about sustained release?

I have been away from the boards, I see there is a new Forum called Off Topic.  How is that working out?

Thank You

Jennifer

I was told extended release did not work well for us.

Not sure about sustained release.

I have 1 extended release medicine that I was taking before surgery. They changed me to a regular pill taken 2x per day for the first month. After that, I am allowed to go back to the extended release 1x per day. The doctor said it will still work for me.

Thats interesting Lori, I have heard more times then not that we are not suppose to take extended, but as we are all finding out, every surgeon is different...I am going to check out the link that Grim Traveler posted...

I remember specifically asking the physician's assistant about the extended release because I had just gotten a 3-month refill. But, looking at some of the posts below, I may contact the manufacturer or my pharmacist to get more information. In the meantime, I'm going to check Grim's like too.

I've been taking a Sustained Release medication (Welbutrin SR) and it seems to be working fine :)    I stay away from Extended Release....though I'm not sure what is different between Sustained versus Extended.
