Did I really just have major surgery?

I had surgery on 8/27 and I am really amazed at how quickly I bounced back.  I thought I would be out of pocket for at least a week or more.  After the initial gas pains wore off I didn't have much discomfort at all.  I'm still struggling to get in all of the fluids/protein but I'm sure that comes with time.   I thought Isopure was a win to get in protein and fluids but I can not tolerate most of the flavors I bought.

I'm so glad to hear you are both doing so well, I am having my RNY next Monday the 8th and I am so excited. I hope to be able to report similar results after surgery!

I had my surgery on 8/20. It was a revision and had some damage I had to have fixed. I so far can get all of my protein and fluids which is scary for me because I though they told me it would be more difficult. Toda is the first day I feel almost human. JP gets pulled tomorrow. I have been back to work for a week as I am not a good at home person. These 2 weeks of clear liquids with protein shakes is almost over though

Almost everyone goes through the phase where they think they were in a placebo group that didn't actually have the surgery. Until the day where they eat a little too much, or too fast, or don't chew well enough. Then you'll be sure. Don't ask me how I know this.

Protein you can wait a little while on, but try harder on the fluids. More people have issues from low fluid intake than any other reason.

Isopure tasted like sweat to me. Yuck.

Lol @ the sweat taste. It has been pretty terrible. Too bad I have like 8 more to get rid of.

Congratulations! I hope I am similar! I'm still battling the tail end of a nasty 5 month case of walking pneumonia, so fingers crossed that doesn't flare up again post-op!

Reading the boards, Unjury seems to be a favorite for protein. Good luck!

I'm the opposite. I had surgery on 8/18 (DS) and have had a really hard time. I'm still in bed most days and barely able to get anything down due to a constant state of nausea. I expected to snap back so much faster that this is actually causing a slight depression as well.

I met a girl in my preop class that had ds a few days before I was having RNY. She's not doing so well either. I hope you get to feeling better soon though!
