Comparable hair loss

Hi everyone:

Did you find that your post-op hair loss was comparable to hair loss after child birth?  I remember how much I lost after I had both my kids and I'm just curious. The sloughing has just begun for me, as I am just over 2 months post-op. Here's the fear in the back of my mind:

Alopecia runs in my family. Both my brother and mother have no hair on their bodies. My brother has been that way since age 6, but my mother's was triggered after she had lap band surgery 6 years ago. Her hair started falling out right on schedule but then just never stopped. So, this has been weighing on me a bit that it could also happen to me. I would feel better knowing if people experienced it as similar or more/less than their own childbirth. I lost about half my hair after childbirth and all was well. It came back just as thick eventually.
