Oh my gosh I'm clogged, plugged or something.

I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and I am allowed fish and squash.  I had some cod and butternut squash tonight and either I didn't chew properly or I ate too fast.  I thought I ate too much but that was four hours ago and I'm still in pain.  It hurts right in the middle below my rib cage and is radiating to my back.  It feels like somebody slugged me right below my shoulder blades.  Vomited once after I tried to take a few sips of water, which actually made me feel better for a little bit.  Any suggestions?  I know, my doctor said "chew, chew, chew or you spew, spew, spew"  and I need to practice this.  Back to protein shakes for me tomorrow. :(

Sorry I have no advice because I am also a newbie, but I hope you are feeling better.

Please phone your medical team to see if you should be checked for a stricture  (if anyone on this site recommends chewing a papaya enzyme tablet to help break down the protein in the cod you ate, ask them if papaya may be too harsh for you this early post-op).

Well that feeling passed about midnight and I am feeling better today.  I did chew some papaya enzymes last night.  Having a protein shake this morning and taking it easy.  Does anyone know if there is a search feature on the forum?  Hate posting about something that's already been posted about over and over.  thanks

I read in two WLS publications that you can add a very small amount of meat tenderizer to some warm wTer and sip it until the feeling passes. I think the key is " small amount".

Uh are you taking Actigall? Have you had your gall bladder out? If not you may want to check on rather you have stones in your gall bladder. That is how I felt when I had stones in my gall bladder. I thought I was having a heart attack because of where the pain was so I ran to the ER (praying the whole way there) and found out my heart was just fine, but my gall bladder had to come out that day. So check on that - otherwise I hope you are feeling better soon.

I feel better now.  Thank you for your info but I've had my gallbladder removed already.  I think it was the combo of not chewing real well, eating too fast and fish not being as moist as it should.  Had no problem with salmon.  Either that or the squash was too stringy.  Since I'm only in the pureed phase will have to be more careful.  Glad you are doing better now that your gallbladder is gone.
