Interestingly, some surgeons prefer that their patients not drink coffee for one of the same reasons they prefer that they not drink diet soda: the amount of acid.  Many of the same people who jump all over diet soda drinkers get their panties in a bunch, though, if you suggest the coffee is not good for them...

my surgeon said the same thing about coffee as soda: none for a specific period of time (it was a shorter period of time for coffee than for soda, but I don't remember what it was..l that was 8 years ago!), and in moderation after that.

I've seen one study that said caffeine interfered with absorption of iron. So try to separate your coffee from your iron.
