Is it Weird that I was Sent home with High Fructose Corn Syrup Liquid Tylenol?

I was discharged yesterday and my doctor included a prescription for Liquid Tylenol.  The pharmacist filled it with over-the-counter Children's Tylenol.  I was hoping to stop the narcotics today and switch to the Tylenol.  However, I just noticed that one of the inactive ingredients is high fructose corn syrup.  It seems strange that they would give that to a bariatric patient... should I be concerned?

I too was told to pickup liquid Tylenol. That is so sweet. I have to think it down with water to take it. Everything taste so sweet to me.

It used to be sugar free and I imagine doctors don't realize it no longer is

Since it's over the counter anyway, you can still find a sugar free or diabetic version.

Yes, you should be sensitive to sugary anything especially in the beginning.  Good job for catching that.  When in a store, I sometimes guess I am witnessing a fellow WLSer when I see someone researching the h-ll out the back of a product box!

I buy the adult liquid tylenol in sugar free version (for diabetics) -- good catch!

Thanks everyone.  I am feeling well enough now that I think I can go without the pain meds.  However, I will make sure to find the sugar free version so that I have some on hand just in case.

This is a great example for all of us. Read all labels, don't listen blindly to docs in situations like this, and be your own advocate.
