BARIATRIC Vitamins Delivered to your home payed for by Insurance
Well, that is good to hear. I will be sticking to my $17/year B12 dots, and all of the other vitamins I take, but at least they aren't offering sub-par vitamins. It makes me CRAZY when companies offer "bariatric" vitamins that are incepredibly expensive and aren't even suitable.

I looked them up. The multi is good and meets the ASMBS guidelines. The iron is carbonyl iron, though it doesn't have enough vitamin C in it, but then most irons don't. The calcium is calcium citrate.
Please post a link to the ASMBS guidelines. Thanks.
At my last support group we had the drug rep for this company come in... I signed up but did NOT opt for the auto refill UNTIL I try the first month to see how it goes...seems like a great plan...I had recently bought vitamins from bariatric advantage & paid over a 100.00
BTW I have BCBS ...I would like to hear about any of your experiences with this company...
Vitamins don't need to be "bariatric," and they don't have to be expensive. I wait for a deal at CVS, and my multis cost 8 bucks for a year. My B12 is 22 bucks a year, and D3 is another 40. I know people that spend 100 per month, but it's unnecessary. For the amount I spend, my monthly copay would be a lot more if I used my insurance.

I spend a little more on my multi's in order to get ones with no calcium carbonate because of my history with the kidney stones, but I am amazed at how much people spend unnecessarily on "bariatric" vitamins!
My b12 costs $17 a year, my Vit D is $25 a year, my B complex is $21 a year, and my iron is roughly $35 a year! My calcium is much more expensive, but still not much considering that I take 4 doses per day and I take some of the yummy chews. The Costco calcium tablets are $10 for 250 doses (which is about a month and a half's worth, since I then splurge on the raspberry calcium chews and some of the chocolate Creamy Bites as well for two of my doses each day).

I'll post when/if I get approved with an mthly expense. I too was a little cynical and if the mthly expense is more than what I was paying for the vitamins before, I was planning to opt out.
Poet, You gave info on the nutritional value of the vitamins? Are you saying it would need to be supplemented? Just curious because Id like to take that info to my nut...
Thanks all!
No, I said the multi meets the ASMBS guidelines. You'd need two servings a day, though. A serving is two tablets. So you'd need a total of four a day. A bottle only contains 30 servings, though, so unless they send you two bottles a month, you'd have to buy some other vitamins to take for the second half of the month. One bottle would only get you through 15 days.
The label says to take one serving a day, but that only gives you half of what the ASMBS says you need of most things.

The calcium citrate is 600 mg per serving and a serving is two tablets. One bottle has 60 servings. Now, the ASMBS says we need at least 1500 mg calcium citrate daily, so to meet that recommendation, you'd need an extra 300 mg a day from somewhere.
