Ok my RNY surgery is just around the corner 47 days to be exact. have lost almost thirty pounds so far. Is it normal to lose this much before surgery? I am on a high protein low card diet. I have cut out all diet sodas and only use Stevia or Truvia to sweeten my tea. Eating five times a day. I still crave a dessert, but, replace it with a health snack, but with the holidays upon us it is increasingly harder. I am so worried that they won't do the surgery if I stop losing! Any Advice on any of this would be appreciated.

Stick with your program. Drink a lot of water. It will be worth it I promise. 47 days will fly by....just keep reminding yourself why you are doing this. You can do it.

Thanks so much for the encouragement. It seems to get a little scarier the closer I get.

I am so excited, too.

As long as you don't get higher than your starting weight, you'll be fine. They say the weight loss before the surgery is mainly to assist with your recovery period but not necessary. If your Dr. didn't tell you that you HAVE to lose weight, you should be ok. And Congrats! I am pre-op and my goal is to lose 30 before my surgery.

Thank you. How close are you to your goal ? When is your surgery? Would enjoy having a friend on here to compare notes with.

Keep doing what you've been doing. The more work you do now, the easier it will be after surgery to reach your goal.

I've been on the low carb high protein since June 3, lost 37 pounds so far. I don't know how your insurance works, but mine is taking my starting number not my low number.

Best to call them and ask...
