Measuring and logging have been huge for me. I know a lot of vets who don't log regularly. But almost all of them have a "panic" weight, and if they reach that, they start logging closely until they drop back down.

What does fallen off program mean? If you mean regain, my weight fluctuates within a few pounds, my "acceptable" zone. That's because I count calories so closely.

If by falling off program you mean eating crap, then yes. When my mom passed I went on a carb bender. I ate donuts from here to San Diego. On my worst day I still got over 100 grams of protein, but carbs were through the roof. Donuts, chips, candy bars -- my version of eating plant-based foods. But my weight only went up a few pounds, because I kept calories balanced.

Congrats Grim!  You have been such an inspiration to me and talked me down from the ledge more times than I care to admit!  Meeting you in person at the OC meet up was one of the highlights of my year.  I cannot agree more with your statement that posting/reading daily provides invaluable support and access to an amazing group of people!!  Here's to the next four years . . . and the next four . . . and the next four . . . .

...and where do you guys get all the moving emojis???  That one is paricularly cute.  Although I am pretty sure we newbies are not allowed to use them until AFTER surgery...

You have to ask Kathy for an emoji permit.

When you are typing in the Reply box, there is a smiley  face icon. Click on that, and you'll see all the emojis. There is also an icon for embedding links (it looks like a chain), for inserting photos, etc.

You are such an inspiration to me and clearly so many others. I'm pre-op for a revision on 9/23 and constantly go back and forth about this and then I read a post of yours and feel more confident about this journey I am on. Thank you!
