I'm having trouble with getting in fluids. One week post-op today and I can barely clear one 16.9 oz bottle of water a day. Not to mention taking the required medication. Any ideas ?

Just sip constantly and get as much in as possible! Are you still liquids only?

I had a much easier time sipping hot and warm liquid. Try hot herbal tea (decaf) or even warm water with some lemon squeezed in. I couldn't tolerate cold water well at all, it made me feel like my throat was closing.

Not good. You might need to go in and get hydrated by iv. Try the packets of propel, add them to your water to help hydrate you. No sugar and they have electrolytes. I am two weeks post op and I drink all day long. Sipping and sipping. Best of luck.

Dehydration can be a serious concern. If you haven't already reached out to your surgeons office it would be best to contact them ASAP. Good luck!

Hydration is not optional. It's pretty much your only job at one week out. You should not be without a beverage in your hand if you are awake and conscious.

The surface tension of plain water can be difficult at first. Try adding something flavourful, drops, cucumber etc or try different flavor teas. You don't have to like them, you just need to suck it up and drink them.

This will pass. Good luck

Put something in it. At 2 years out I still cannot drink plain water. I use a little bit of diet cranberry juice and it is so much easier. Or peppermint tea, or sugar free hot apple cider. But get it in.
