My hubby and I are planning a tripe to VEGAS for this summer. (I know HOT)!!!! WE go at least once a year sometime two!! This time is different...I had surgery 3/21/05 and I am little nervous of going...We always ate at a the buffets and alot of fast foods...now of course (andhappily) this will change. Does anyone know of places that are fun, have good food that we both can enjoy? Not too many places will let you order one meal and then share it...and we can't order just one buffet and then have me eat a small amount from his plate....There is so much to do there and eating is just a small part...BUT it is a part of it. Breakfast is not to much of a problem...but dinner ....I wonder if the businesses there will take the card asking to eat from the childrens menu or half portions. I won't have anywhere to keep the leftovers..... Oh ...I guess I can just not worry to much and have a good time!!!! But any help is appreciated!!! Linda in Poulsbo, WA 284/259 03/21/05 surgery

Hi Linda! My hubby and I went to Vegas and Los Angeles last Sept. and had a great time. As far as eating, we are both gastric bypass patients so we shared a lot of meals and none of the servers acted weird about it. In fact, when we were in California restaurants they served the food on 2 plates for us and we didn't even have to ask. Sometimes if we just couldn't agree on anything we ordered separate meals and just wasted the food. After all, most skinny people don't clean their plates, right? One suggestion I would have is eating at some of the deli and counter service restaurants to save money and time. We'd get a salad and split it or while at New York, New York we got this great veggie lasagna and shared it. It was huge and of course we threw most of it away... Anyway, have a great time and a show suggestion-- The Mac King comedy matinee show was hilarious and great fun. Becky 276/155/130 5/27/2004 open RNY

Hey Linda, Vegas in July is cool, we got hiched there in July 01. Sharing meals at restaurants with table service shouldn't be a problem. Depending on your hotel a fridge/micr may be in the room. We were thinking of going in late Aug this year. Not sure which hotel just yet. Have a great trip. Patty

We went before my surgery - July was HOT. I was miserable. I would probably enjoy it much better now. I find ordering a side of something (chili, soup, grits, etc) is easier for me. Let me know if I can ever help make any travel arrangements for you. Audrey Ralston Certified Travel Associate www.RalstonTravel.com

I just got back from Vegas and my friend is doing the LA Diet. We went to Gallaghers in New York New York, ordered 1 steak and 1 potato and asked for a separate plate. No problem at all...we didn't have to explain why at all. Also, we had a continental breakfast at our hotel and just picked off of that. Also, we would go to the deli's and order 1 sandwich and she'd eat half and I'd take the meat and cheese off the other half.

I went to Vegas in April to renew my vows for my tenth anniversary. (pic with Elvis on my profile!) and we stayed at Bellagio. Most places I went I just ordered off the appetizer menu and all was good!!! Karen

Go to the buffets, I did in Atlantic City at about 3 months out. Now after years of the buffets losing money on me they made some back. I had no problem not over eating. I had a little of everything that was full of protein. The other thing that I like about the casino buffets is that they always have sugar free deserts. john
