I wonder what the consequence of the four fold increase in insulin production means for us, though. I haven't been diabetic so that doesn't really register with me as far as what it really means.

Thanks for posting the article. My original choice for surgeon wanted to do RNY. Glad my research led me to the sleeve.

It's important to remember we all have a dramatic DROP post surgery - that's why so many diabetics end up off their meds even before they've lost huge amounts of weight. So the four fold increase isn't from what was our old base line, it's from our new base line which is much lower.

Also note from the study - that's with simple carbs. RNY patients need to avoid them like the plague, but they're never a great choice nutritionally for us either - with our small capacity, we'll always be much better with more nutritious foods.

That said, the simple carbs are never going to crash us in the same way they do an RNY patient. But they will make us hungrier.

Ah! That makes sense! Thank you for responding. I had noticed that the study was gauging reactions to simple sugars and was thinking how little I like simple sugars anyway because of the rebound effect from them. That's a good reminder for me to keep away from them in the future, too.
