has anyone lost weight every month on the 6 month diet and exercise program, and still got approved for WLS? the closer I get the more nervous I get that some thing will go wrong, I have lost some weight every month, and Im done July 6th Yeah! but now Im thinking I should have not tried so hard. What have been your experience?

I lost 40 lbs the six months before surgery and I feel like it was hard but so worth it. It was 40 lbs that I didn't have to worry about post surgery and just that much faster that I'll get to goal.

Thanks waffelking, I don't trust the insurance company, I guess I'm thinking this is a trap, that they will say, If you can loose it with diet and exercise you don't need WLS. the only thing that is keeping me going is Im doing this for my health. Your doing great!

If this is an official 6 month program, insurance takes into account your weight before the program when doing approval.

I didn't have a program, but lost 35 lbs in the 3 months before surgery, 21 of it in the last 6 weeks. I'm with Waffleking (who could EVER disagree with Waffleking) that every pound you lose now is one pound closer to your final goal, even if you haven't had your surgery.

It's harder pre-op, but it's worth making every effort. You've done great!

Hang in there!

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Hey amanda D, maybe we will have surgery around the same time! I'm done with my 6 months but I have to do a final consult July 6.
Keep up the good work!

Were you required to lose? I was, and I did.

If you still wonder, why not contact your insurance company to be sure?

Dr just said I could not gain, and even if I lost .5 lbs he was happy.

Sounds like you're good to go, then, doesn't it? I know - we all worry and fret.
