Is this acid? New food? Death? I need some help please.

So yesterday was 2 weeks post op.

Monday I was cleared for pureeds foods (was only on clears).

I had 2 teaspoons of greek yogurt and 1/8 c tomato soup throughout the day. All seemed to go well. But at 11 pm I was propped up on 3 pillows feeling like I had just eaten an entire Thanksgiving meal. Slept a little that night but not much.

Yesterday I went back to clears. Had a protein shake in late afternoon. Then 2 sips of that tomato soup. About 2 hours later it was like my gut was a cauldron of boiling acid. This lasted all night.

I woke up at about 4 thinking I was going to vomit, sipped some water and willed myself not to. I'm still feeling nauseated and boiling.

Do you guys think this is the acid people talk about? Maybe the tomato soup? Lactose intolerance?

I'm at a loss and I feel BAD :(

Thanks for helping!

Tomato soup is very acidic - I would eliminate that.  Make sure you take  your ppi too!  Feel better...

I would get on a PPI if you're experiencing acid, which from what you've described is acid reflux.

While tomatoes are acidic, if it's lasting all day and night, I would not suffer with reflux.

Lactose intolerance for me was major gas, cramping, and some projectile vomiting and diarrhea. Acid gave me a false hunger pang, and gnawing/rumbling feeling in my stomach once I hit mushy foods. Went on Prilosec 20mg once daily, and it resolved the issue.

I agree with everyone here - tomatoes are acidic and I would avoid them for now...  (I dont even like them so thats a no-brainer for me)!

I went through the same acid reflux pain the first week and I was taking 20mg antacid.  The doc prescribed it to me a week before surgery and said I may need to take it 6-12 mos post-op until the body adjusts.
