Hi, I'm new here.  I am on week 9 of my 24 week class for WLS through Kaiser.  I was just wondering if anyone else here had to do 24 weeks of classes?
Thanks

I too had Kaiser and went through them. I was done in April and had surgery last Wednesday (9/14) As much as I complained at first I really did get a lot out of them :)
Hi I'm Diana! I'm 5'10 and hoping to get down to 165 :) Feel free to friend me!

Oh, yes, KP has all kinds of things for you to do prior to your surgery...they need to make sure their investment in you will pay off in the long run. I'm with KP Mid-Atlantic and looking back the waiting time was good for me...I lost weight, learned about proper nutrition, etc. It is all worth it in the end!
I don't know why, but they are very cagey about telling you (at the time) what the next step on your journey will be...finish the class, then we'll talk.
Keep a journal and take monthly pictures to track your progress.
Good luck!

My insurance only required 3 months - at first I was mad about it but now I am so glad I had the classes to help me prepare and give me time to really decide that this was the right choice for me. Keep up the good work - you will be finished before you know it!

I, too, have KP.  I just started my WLS journey.   As a matter of fact, my first class is not until Oct.  I see it as trying to get prepared to run a marathon.  You just can not jump off your couch and run a marathon, you have to train.
