Gas and burping....... Need advice

So the last few days I have been having alot of discomfort in my upper abdomen.... And have a ton of tiny little burps.. Even after the tinniest sip of water. It does not feel good to lie down.... Only comfortable sitting or standing. Sometimes it feels like tiny bubbles are raising from my new tummy. Now as far as I know I'm doing everything right (small sips, no straw etc) am I just crazy or is this normal. What to do to treat or prevent? Maalox? Gas X?

Are you on a PPI?  My stomach acid often presented as gas - bad gas! - before I got it under control with a PPI.

Both are a very good answer.  Gas X Strips became am best friend after surgery.

I am 3 days out and having these same problems. I can finally take two sips in a row and not feel the burning cramping pain. I dont lie down unless I have too. It sucks but keeping moving seems to work the best for me.

Oh my goodness!  I thought I was the only one with this issue.  Three days out from surgery and this is certainly keeping me from sipping liquids but the fear of dehydration makes me!  Vicious cycle.  My problem is I have NEVER been able to burp or belch so I have to be really gross and gag myself to expell this extra air.  I am exhausted!!  Gas X strips did nada for me.

5 days post op VGS - the gas for the first 3 days was the worst for pain. Yesterday was better and today is better still. I am on full fluids and enjoyed a baby spoon of Greek yogurt. No burps. I am thinking that after the surgery, there must not be any good bacteria in the remaining gut hence the constant gas creation. My surgeon said no to Gas X so I have stayed away. Warm drinks seem to be ok, for me.
