4 Days Post Op - Hurts to Swallow
I need your help. When I try to swallow anything even water it doesn't go down well. Even little tiny sips feel like they are full of air and hurt my tummy. For this reason I am not getting my liquids in. What am I doing wrong? If feels like tons of gas/air/pressure, I can't really explain it. Please help, I am miserable.

I still am only able to tolerate small sips of warm drinks or drinks with flavor in them. Water irritates my sleeve so I keep packets of SF favoring to help.
Also protein drinks go down easy as does milk. No citrus, yikes that hurts!
It really and truly gets better with time.

I am a pre-op but I have had some experience with swallowing problems. I am also a chugger of all liquids by nature, especially crisp cold water, and I'm trying to train myself to NOT gulp anymore. One thing that's been helping is:
1) take a small sip of water and hold it in your mouth
2) exhale
3) swallow the water/whatever after you've breathed the air out and then just continue breathing normally
I'm finding that doing that is slowing me down while still getting 64oz of water a day. I don't get that uncomfortable pain under my ribs that I normally get after a big 'ol chug-fest, either.
