First reflux - 7 mos out
I'm about 7 months out, and I had my first post-surgery reflux this morning at 2am. I think it had something to do with me having a cold, and eating a snack a half hour before bedtime.
Ugh, it was horrible. I had a sore throat anyways, so it hurt badly. And, there was a LOT of acid. More than I've ever had before (preop)
To help this clear up and never happen again, I'm going to:
1) Go back on prilosec for a month
2) Replace my evening "snack" with a high protein, lo cal drink.
Any other advice?
Thanks!

Blah! Sorry you're dealing with this. I'm 13 months out and mine comes and goes every couple of months. When it comes back I go back on Prevacid for about 2 weeks and that lasts me for a few months but then it comes back again. I had reflux before surgery too so it's really nothing new for me..I just hate it.
Eating too soon before bed is a big problem for me also - it's just asking for trouble. You just need to plan the timing of your food better and that should help alot. I don't take meds on a regular basis now because if I'm careful, it's not a problem. I must say though that I always keep some Tums nearby, just in case.
