8 days out and Thanksgiving

I had my surgery on 11/16 and thought I would die on the 3-5 days. I really turned a corner on the 7th day.

I had my first followup appointment yesterday and am down 18 pounds since surgery for a total of 27 since June 10 when I had my initial consultation. I'm happy with my progress so far.

I was feeling like I would miss out on Thanksgiving dinner today but I did make myself some runny mashed potatoes, it was more like soup, and it was actually fine. I also did take 2 VERY small bites of turkey and chewed them until they were pulverized. So far so good.

Hopefully I'm not being "bad".

I can relate haveing surgery on 11/18 but I didn't think I would die -- I just felt really wierdo - not in pain or nausea - just wierd and started feeling more "normal" after the 4th day.  I'm still very spacey in my mind - cant concentrate for long.

I had a glass of milk for Thanksgiving at a restaurant but I think "mashed potato soup" would be a great idea for tomorrow when I'm released to try pureed food.   Great use of left overs.  The only real temptation was seeing the pie -- I just wanted one pumpkiny taste but I didn't do it -- don't want to upset the new sleeve that is healing.

Happy Thanksgiving.

My surgery was 11-03, but I'm still on liquids (darn conservative dr).  I had my protein drinks today.  I did have thinned cream of potato soup for lunch.  Yumm!  Oh well, next Thanksgiving I will get to have some holiday food (although just smaller amounts).  And at least for Christmas I can have some turkey!.

Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!
