How many of you have used Dr. Alvarez for your surgeries? If you encountered issues, how did you get a U.S. doctor to care for you after going out of the country for the procedure? I heard U.S. dont like to care for you if you were not there patient for the surgery.

I'm going to mexico for surgery, too. My doctor was on board of course (he told me about surgery out of country), and I am making sure I know which doctors will KNOW what the heck is going on with me if complications arise, so if I have to go to emerg I know who to get in touch with. Also make sure you have information with you to bring to the ER in case you need to go there so they know what is going on. I would just make sure your PCP knows what you are doing and ask him ahead of time what you need to tell anyone at the hospital if you have a complication.
Loads of us here have gone to Dr. Alvarez! He is one of the absolute best. I have never had a better surgery experience in my life (and I have had multiple surgeries in the Atlanta area), and I have not had the first problem since. You cannot go wrong with Dr. A! And my primary care doc was completely supportive of my decision and agreed before I left to do all my aftercare ... of which there has been none except blood work!

Ditto what the other posters said. Dr. A also gives you a printed operative report that tells what surgery you had, how it was done, etc., in your discharge packet. I gave a copy to my doc at home for my file and have another copy at home in case it is needed.
I have only needed lab work and went to see my PCP about 2 weeks after getting home just so he could check my incisions, etc.
Dr. Alvarez is available via email or by phone to my doc anytime.
Like a previous poster said, this was my best surgical experience, recovery, etc of any surgery I ever had and I've had several. This was the FIRST surgery I've had that I DIDN'T have a post-op infection and/or complication.
