CBS News story on the sleeve

If you have not seen today's CBS News (03/26/2012/, do watch or check out the website. There is a story on a study that shows a greater significant reduction in Type II Diabetes using the sleeve and gastric bypass as compared to medication alone. Using the sleeve 37% of the sleeve patients had their diabetes go away vs. 12% with medication alone.  Shows what a lot of us who have had Type II diabetes have experienced already (me included).

What I watched was a story on 60 minutes from 4 years ago and they only talked about the bypass.  I'll have to check again and see if I can find the right piece.

  I have been taken off my diabetes meds since my surgery.  Just had blood work  done and my A1C is 6.
So guess I am in remission and hopefully never be diabetic again!

Same here. I am 9 months out, just had my last lab work on a couple of weeks ago - blood surgar was 114 and a1c was 5.7 - all with no diabetes meds since day before surgery.

Emily Latella here..."never mind"  LOL.  I went back and clicked onto the
Evening News, not just the CBS News home page and found the piece immediately.  It was very interesting and certainly reinforces my decision to have this surgery.  I've been off meds since before the surgery and per recent bloodwork, my diabetes has been resolved!
