I haven't had the surgery yet but there is some that have gone back really quick (5 days) and others who go ahead and take longer.  I am taking longer to be safe (3 weeks).  I doubt you'd have to wait 4-6 weeks.  I think I'll be ready after 2 but since I have the time built up I might as well take more.  Good luck to you!

No heavy lifting for 6 - 8 weeks.  I'm still off work and its been 7 weeks.  Some folks that have desk jobs go back after about 1 week though.  It all depends on how you feel and what you do.  We all heal at slightly different rates.

You won't be able to lift more than 10-15 lbs for about six weeks.  Sorry....but that is reality.  You can probably DO it...but it won't feel good and sets you up for potential serious injury.

I am a big guy and I have a very physical job.  I had to pick up something 80+ lbs right when I went back to work (six weeks after surgery) and my abs did not have the strength.  They were sore as hell for 3 days after.  No injury....just my body wasn't ready.

If you have a physical job.....make preparations to be out awhile.
