My surgery was monday. I am having lots of trouble with my belly area!  It's very distended and sore. I can't bend over to pick up stuff or roll over on to my side. I can only lay on my back reclined on the couch. Is this normal? Plus most of my drainage is coming out the hole in mhy side not the draintube sticking out of it.

All of that is completely normal except the drain thing.  For that I'd call the dr. I think I was 8 or 9 days out before I could lay on my side.

I'd call the doc about the drainage, but the rest is normal.  I was bloated/swollen for a few weeks after.  And as for being sore, you've had major surgery!  Of course you're sore.

I ditto the posts above. Back was it for me for at least 8 days. But definitely call on the draining thing!

Your going to be sore from where they stiched your abdomal wall back together.  Took me a while to lay on my side too comfortably.  Yup, I would call about the drainage.

Glad that you talked to doc... I was sleeved on Monday, as well. The swelling is starting to go down a bit but yesterday when I came home, I looked quite prego. I am a side sleeper - I put my pillows in L shape with one against my side. It allowed me to be semi on my side with support on my belly.

Congratulations on your surgery!! As long as there is no foul odor, increased pain , increased amount of drainage, it is okay. I feel bad when I read about all of you going home with drains My surgeon takes them out the day you leave the hospital. Good luck and feel better soon

My abdomen was so sore.  I couldn't tolerate the liquid pain medicine, so until I got my drain out, I just had to tolerate the pain.  I just couldn't get comfortable, could only lay on my back and could hardly walk up straight.  The day I got my drain out was wonderful.  Within 24 hours, i felt like a new person!  It was like they took off a ball and chain!
