6 Month Update..Down 70lbs so far! Pics
Hello!
Just wanted to share my progress with you all. It is exactly 6 months today, and I am 70lbs lighter! I guess he honeymoon is over, but I am still as excited as the day I checked out of the hospital. I feel like a new person, and at almost 35, I feel 25 :) I am so excited for the future now.
I started out at 260lbs and a size 20. I lived on carbs, diet soda, fast food, and almost never drank water. I lost 15lbs while going through the 12 week options program through Kaiser, so I was 245 when I went into surgery on Nov 29th 2011. I had a pretty text book operation, no complications, not much pain, and a pretty easy recovery. About 6 weeks after my VSG, I started working out in a circut training "boot camp" which consisted of mostly resistance training at first, and then later I started adding more calestenics like kettle bells, push ups, free weights etc. I did this 3x per week for 1 hour. I decided to add in some cardio and started a Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing) class on the 2 off days. So for the past 2 months I have been working out at least 5x per week and even started sneaking in some running here and there. I can't beleive how much I enjoy it. It is like a natural high.
I can't begin to tell you how fantastic I feel. I still have at least another 30-40lbs to go, but It doesn't feel like such an uphill battle anymore. I am 190lbs now, a size 12 and I actually have muscles! Who knew! I still eat fast food, but it's usually from El Pollo Loco, or a salad from Subway, or a "protein box" from Starbucks.. No more soda! My staple foods are greek yogurt, cottage cheese, deli meats, cheese, smoked salmon & crackers, & vegetables. I am not very good about my water, but if I squeeze a little MIO in there, I can drink magicly drink gallons!
I hope you don't mind me tooting my own horn here. It is hard to do in the real world, I still have a hard time taking a compliment. I am like a deer in headlights, just don't know what to say!
Before: 260lbs :(
Me Now... 190lbs

Girlfriend, toot that horn as loud as you would like!
You are doing totally amazing! You look awesome and it is so great that you have built healthy exercise/lifestyle habits. After all, its about the things we can continue, not the fads (like making healthy decisions at the fast food places). Its good to show others how you modify your life over time
Go get em!
