So I'm 10 days post op and still on liquids, but I am utterly sick and tired of these shakes! Ye smell sight taste of them makes me want to gag and I don't know what to do. I've tried different flavors, brands, ive tried plain, in soup, in sugar free juice etc and I can't stand them any more.

Im at a loss as to what to do - I know I need my protein, but I just can't stand them at this point. What about adding some fruit, but I dunno if carbs is an issue right now. Any help with some alternatives/ solutions would be great!

TIA

~Lorraine

You should talk to your nutritionist and see if you can add Greek yogurt.  High in protein and a welcome change from the shakes.  Get plain yogurt, add equal and cinnamon and you have a little snack.

If you still have to do the protein shakes, have you tried them in a frozen shake format?  Milk or water, ice and protein blended in a blender?  It actually helps the taste of them quite a bit, I think.

Hope you find something that works for you soon.  It is hard to find just the right brand of protein for you, as we all have different tastes and what works for one, won't necessarily work for another.

Good luck.

Ok thanks do much! I called and left a voicemail with the nutritionist and I'm going to see about getting the yogurt - anything else other than those shakes at this point would be great! I'll let you know how it goes!

The shakes are getting to me too. I just bought a 12 pack of Isopure protein drinks. It has 40g of protein in a 20oz bottle. It is a bit pricey though. The Vitamin Shoppe has then on sale right now..$46 for a 12 pack.
