I am going out with friend's Saturday night to the movies...but they are wanting to eat first. They went ahead and told me we are eating at Chili's so I have been scoping out the menu online. I am in the chopped foods stage (tonight is my first veggie burger). What would you guys get if you were going? I am going to push to keep my carbs down all day on Saturday b/c EVERYTHING on the menu has at least 11gm of carbs.. even the salmon has equal carb to protein ratio. HELP!

They have a grilled chicken on the childrens menu, for the side I get a salad- Never can fini**** and it really is good. You also get a drink included all for under $6.00.

Or have soup- just be sure to get your protein earlier in the day.

Do you have a carb target/limit of 10gs or sumthin at meals when going to resturants? If so maybe less stress to opt out. Do they have a soup type meal?

Some of my restuarant 101s:

I hate drawing attention to myself...the small amts, small plates, the less than healthy kid menus, the "oh Im soooo stuffed' after two-three 'notice me' bites, the shared plates/entrees..uggghh!! DH gets alittle nutso, plate protective, sharin his meal with anyone anyway lol.

I order a full meal myself and if able..make substitutions for the high carby crap. Order my container with my meal (sometimes I gotta remind em)....make lots of conversation...eat very slowly deliberately , chew thoroughly ...so as not to rush anyone at the table. Everyone will be talkin and having a great time...they don't even notice that I haven't eaten much at all.

When we're all about done scoop my remaining portion..in my container....I got a meal or two for later..n leave the carby crap for the dog...err my DH..lol

Ordering my container with my meal...took some gettin used to. I never get the usual..."is there something wrong with your food" from waiters anymore..cuz I can't eat volumes of food anymore...and I never have to explain my wls to anyone.

I love to-go buffets more post op than I did pre-op for that very reason! Have never been denied sitting with family/friends to sit and enjoy our meal pickin outta my to-go containers. Let me tell you I LOAD UP!! on all kinds of my favorite 'safe' goodies....When we're all done...I close up my containers and leave! Leftovers for days if DH doesn't beat me to em! I did tell two buffet place hostesses that I had gastric surgery...when I first started getting the hang of it. No more...if Im out of state like at a Home Town, or casinos that are not to-go buffets....I do tell them I had gastric surgery and they charge me a child buffet price. Never had to prove it, just told them ...its so common anymore they accomodate us.

You'll get to where ya rather eat at home than eat out much ...stressless! ..I can't believe how much more I stay home n eat, or pack foods I like if on the road at hotels. Last semester I made honors for the first time since a college freshman in the 70's!! DH says what do you wanna do to celebrate.....I said "sumthing that doesn't involve food"...so he took me out dancin...a celebration indeed ..I had a blast! Danced my ass off!

next time maybe tell yer friends........I'll meet you at the movies. ,-) n sneak in your 'safe' goodies/drinks

I always get the Pepper Pals Grilled Chicken Breast platter with lime wedges to squeeze on the chicken breast.  Their breasts are usually done well so you can cut it finely with your fork or shred it.

Calorically and nutrient wise it is perfect for a bariatric friendly diet.  The dense protein will make it less likely for you to feel snacky at the movie too.
