I guess I've got to eat less?
I feel like I am really struggling to find a balance in my weight LOSS journey. I am still trying to figure out what I need to do to lose the weight I think I should be losing. I am going post a typical day of eating and please be honest (but kind) in determining if I am eating too much about 2 months post-op:
Breakfast~
2-2.5 cups skim milk-16-18 g of protein
2 scoops whey protein powder- 52 g protein
1 cup of ice
(I usually add .5- 1 cup spinach and a banana)- 2 g protein
(sometimes I add .5 cups pineapple)
Lunch~
* I've started to drink another protein drink on most days to see if this has an effect on my weight loss. Last week it did, this week, the scale hasn't changed much.
If I don't have a protein shake than I will eat
3-4 oz. meat with cheese (or something like that)- around 16 g protein
Dinner~
3-4 oz of morning star vegi sausage- 20 g protein
* 60 oz of h20
So there you have it... my meals go something like that. I don't appear to have a problem with reaching my protein goals. If I wanted to assess my sugar intake it would be roughly 70 grams. My calories would be around 1000 calories. After figuring that, I myself believe I must be eating too much. But to make things a little more confusing, let me mention that my RMR is 2055 and I walk or jog about 2 miles at least 4 days a week.
It's not that I am meaning to over eat... it's that my nutritional guidelines state that this is how I should eat.(Minus the amount of sugar that I discovered). I did meet with the dietitian and she said this was normal. Any and all insight is appreciated. As mentioned before, please be kind if you think I am overeating... if someone accused that of me post-op I would really feel like a failure.

My surgery was 6/12 and I am having the same struggles. I was told I don't eat enough.....I feel like I am eating too much on some days. I also find that about an hour or so after I eat a meal, like I am hungry again. So I use this time to squeeze in more protein. The only thing left I can think of is that I don't get 60 oz of water in. I have been working on that this week.
By the scale is my case is creeping and barely moving.

You got sleeved a week before me. It looks like you're on a good weight loss trajectory.
1000 calories might be a bit much still at this stage. My body still needs to be at a pretty hefty deficit to keep shedding. I'm still at about 600 cals a day and I'm working out (running, rowing, soon to be swimming) at least 4 days a week.
Where is your sugar coming from?

ditto. I only allow milk in my diet on days of very heavy workout. Even skim milk has a lot of carbs.

I am abt 2 mo and gained a pound this week so don't have much advise on food mix. (but my trainer did measurements and I'd lost 6" :-)... So sometimes the scale might not reflect success when your body is changing? R u doing measurements?
Not sure what protein drink ur using... or where all the sugar is coming from? Since I have insulin resistences I usually watch my carbs real closely and keep it below 30-40 gr / day.
I too am struggling w/ food lately though. My trainer is vegan and requires food diary every week. She keeps trying to push me more toward carbs / veggies. I tried this past week to mix it up better and didn't like results.
Hope u get good advice from others.

I'm 3.5 months out post-op I do about 650calories at the most a day, 60 grams of protein, under 40 g of carbs a day 20-30g fat a day and tried to aim for 64oz liquids but that's hard for me. Have you talked to a nutrit? or gone to any of the supports classes your doc office should hold a couple a month. It is hard but keep up the good work! Good Luck
Switch from skim milk to unsweetened almond milk and save yourself a lot of simple sugars.. and ditch the banana for now, it is a very, very high GI fruit, as is pineapple! If you have room in your plan, and wish- berries are a much better choice nutritionally speaking.
I aimed for about 700 cals/ 20g total carbs (all carbs, no sugar/carb/fiber breakdown..) and 70+ protein.. and at least 100oz fluids.. Now I'm up around 900, 30-40 and 100+ protein..
I didn't see your ticker, or read how you are losing- but it is not a steady slope for many of us. I lost an average of 8-10lbs a month for the majority of the time, and slowed at the end.. But yes, I'd get rid of the sugars from the milk and fruit for now, and thereby lower your carbs and cals..
Was your RMR directly tested or are you going on those online calculators? The online stuff is notoriously inaccurate for many MO folks.

I can only echo the great advice I've received and seen on here. Most people follow 600-800 cals, under 40g carbs, over 70g protein. I usually try and stay closer to 600 or under while trying to keep my protein closer to 100g and carbs under 25, most days under 20. I also drink a bare minimum of 14 glasses of water a day.
Thanks for the comments/advice so far. I am happy to read that a few of you are doing so well... keep it up.
I agree! I wasn't sure how much milk I was drinking (before i was just eyeing it in the blender). When I wrote this post I measured it and found out it was nearly over 2 cups. This is also where my sugar is coming from.
I also liked reading where others were calorie-wise... if I cut out most of that milk, and the pineapple, I will be closer to 800 calories... that is where I will start.
I would love to hear from more of you. I need all the help I can get. :)
