Bad Breath
Hey all!!
I am 1 week and 2 days post op . I started my pureed diet this morning. But in the last few days my breath has been rank! I can't eat anything to get rid of the smell. I also have a constant bad taste in my mouth. I go to bed and wake up with a bad taste. I don't think this is worthy of bothering my dr. Did anyone have a similar experience? Is it just because I'm not eating real foods? PLEASE tell me this will go away!?!?!
Thanks!

Congratulations! It sounds like you've hit ketosis! That means your body is burning fat for fuel - just what you want!
The best thing you can do to help your breath is to stay super hydrated. The more hydrated you are, the less your breath will bother you (and others). It will also help with the metallic/icky taste in your mouth.
This is just a part of the early process of the rapid weight loss/low carbing life you've adopted. Once your body adjusts everything will return to normal. I don't remember it lasting more than a few weeks or so.
Just remember: drink, drink, drink! (or should I say sip?)
