Good luck! What does your diet entail? That seems like a long time!

Hi,  My  preop diet is protien shakes and  water ONLY.  My surgeon wanted me to do 4 weeks of the  preop diet but on  one of the  hand outs it said  3 weeks so that's what I am  going with. $ weeks would be  torture!

Best of luck!

My pre-op diet was 30 days and less than 30 carbs per day. The first week was the roughest. It does get better and it is all worth it!

You can doit.. we have to for the betterment of ourselves!   I'm currently in my second week of pre-op, it's been hard, I have been spreading my protein out through out the day in between the shakes, and trying the sf jello and posicles.  I know it will be worth it in the end, but boy am I cranky, and have a headache!

3 weeks to 30 days!  Wow.  I don't have surgery scheduled yet but I have started substituting one meal a day with a protein shake and cutting back on the caffine.  My two weeks is starting to look like a walk in the park.

I think the headaches were part of the worst of the pre-op. We really don't realize how addicted to sugar and caffine we are until we take it away.  At least doing it early on makes it easier after surgery IMHO. One less thing to deal with.

I  don't imagine the  fact that I  have been eating whatever I  want to over the  last few days is  going to  help with the  withdrawl from the  salt and  sugar but what's done is  done.  30  days is  brutal.  My  Surgeon wanted me to  do 4 weeks  but on one of the  hand outs I  recieve it  said "Start at least 3 weeks  preop" and  that's what I  decided to  do.   I knew  3  weeks was going to  be  hard enough with only protien shakes and  water allowed.  To those who do the  30 days you rock!
