3 Months Down, Lifetime to go
Its actually a little past my 3 month surgiversary but I figured that Id be one of the cool kids update where I'm at. When I went under the knife three months ago I was tipping the scales at 430lb, today I'm down to 350lb, 80lb lost and I'm no where near done hehe. I have been working around with an end number in my mind all this time, my first number I was shooting for was 180 but as I think about it more and more, I'm 6' 3" and medium- large framed, 180 might be too low for me. I would love feedback on that from some of the vets btw. So now I'm shooting at a number between 180 - 220, my birthday is in September so it would be the best birthday present ever if I could end up at 215 or less, meaning I would have lost 50% of my body weight in almost a year. Last three months has been amazing thus far, its been an adjustment to my new way of life, food no longer dictates my actions. No longer do I run to food for the answer, Ill admit I stubbed my toe once or twice but i shook it off and pressed on. The day before i flew out to have my surgery i bought 2 new shirts, 3X size, they fit and barely had any wiggle room. Today i can wear XL and in some cases L shirts. Pants i was 58-60 waist size, today I'm knocking on size 48-50s door. Its only been a short time so far and I know if I pushed harder that number could be higher but its moving in the right direction, and I will make my goal... nothing will stop me now.
excellent work so far! Keep it up. AS for your goal weight. You will have to come to that yourself - it's truly a personal decision. That said, here's my input - I'm 5'7" with a very large frame (my elbow measurement is larger than the larger life insurance measurements given for tall, heavy framed men!) and pretty well muscled. My goal weight is 170 which puts me 11 pounds over normal BMI. I am honestly thin at 170. You may be one of those guys, too, for whom the BMI chart is not a great guideline.
