hello all. im new here and wanted to pose a question. how much weight have you lost with the sleeve and in what time frame. i initially wanted bypass but since i don't want to take blood, my dr says the sleeve is the safer option. is it possible to lose over 150 pounds with the sleeve? im 308 and dr wants me down to 125. my personal goal is 150 pds. thanks in advance for your answers

That is completely doable if you follow plan and put your mind to it. Im 6 months out and 129lbs down 110 since surgery. You can do it.

Yes you can do that.  I started at 335 and lost 100 in just under 6 months.  Things slow down quite a bit after 6 months - but still able to lose.

You say you don't want to take blood - I'm not sure what you mean.  I do have to have blood drawn to check vitamin levels - I think we all do.  Love my sleeve!

It's definitely doable. I'm down about 40 lbs and I am 5 weeks out. I agree with the others. Follow your plan, change your habits, exercise, and it CAN be done. Good luck!

Did your surgeon say that you would probably need a transfusion if you had a bypass?  I would find this very strange.  Having practiced anesthesia prior to becoming disabled, I can tell you that transfusion in most surgeries involving the GI tract is very rare.  Most surgery permits include permission to transfuse in the UNLIKELY event that you might need it.  IMHO if your surgeon says that he routinely has to transfuse patients who have a bypass, you need to seek a second surgical opinion.  No surgeon worth his salt would object to you seeking one.

As far as VSG vs bypass results.  I am still a preop noob so I suggest that you absorb all that you can from the veterans here.

Best of luck on your journey.
