I'm filled with anxiety.....I'm waiting on approval from United Healthcare....they've had my info since last Friday and have twice requested additional info from my surgeon's office......Is this bad?  I'm really a nervous.....I'm having my gall bladder removed too and wondering if this is the case....thinking maybe info has to cross two departments and not just one??? I dunno, but why am I so nervous about approval???

If you know what pieces of info the surgeon had to give that would give you a clue as to the line of questioning.

The doctor's office may have just forgot to send all of the paperwork.  A lot of people are only in the hospital on an outpatient basis so changing from 2 days to 1 would not be unusual.

No worries, be direct and ask what additional information they requested. Tell them that you would like to help expedite the process. Believe me I called United Healthcare daily because between my surgeon's office saying they sent the information over and them actually receiving it, I didn't want there to be any gap...my stress was high enough.

I knew exactly what UHC required and confirmed I submitted it all to my surgeon's office and confirmed with them that they submitted that to insurance. I did the same thing once I received confirmation that my information was actually received at UHC.

Be persistent, I was and was approved in 3 days.

Good luck!
