How do you resize a photo to use in profile?

How do you resize a photo to get it to the correct size for profile?  I have tried everything!!!! Please help.

I open it up in paint, you know the program you let your kids "color" in.  select the image (put a box around it) and click resize, start with 50% or so. Make sure that lateral and horizontal are both scaled to the same number otherwise you could end up looking like an umpalumpa.  With the image still highlighted click crop, this will bring the side and bottom in around the photo.  I then save this file as name2.  Check and see if it is small enough to use.

 

It might not be the most efficient way to do this but it is what I have found works for me.

Starting/Highest Weight 340, Surgery Weight 306,
Post op:
M1-20lb, M2-14, M3-15, M4-11, M5-10, M6-10, M7-8, M8-4, M9-4, M10-5

Thanks for the suggestion, I couldn't get mine resized but this worked.
