Just wanted to say how impressed I am that you quit smoking!  You rock!!

Why thank you!! But don't be too impressed. I'm sure my husband & son hate living with me right now because I'm an impatient GRUMPY, easily agitated woman right now. Some days I can't even stand myself but I'm doing it, I really quit & that's all that matters!!

Call the dr. That prescribed the Lasix. Explain what is happening. 20 mg. is a low dosage. Maybe he will increase it while you get through this hump. You'll need to have your potassium checked. May have to take some. Restrict salt. 

Another option might be to have the RA doc call your surgeon and explain about the fluid retention, you would be amazed how little one doc knows about another one's specialty. The nurse may think you are just trying to put one over on them, nurses aren't the be all end all for the surgery, your surgeon has the final say and can ok it even if the nurse says no. That would be especially true if your RA doc has explained the reason for the rapid weight gain. Don't just let them walk on you stand up and be the squeeky wheel!

I called my rheumatologist & left a msg for him to call me back as soon as possible.
