Fruit in protien shakes?
Hi everyone,
I am pre-op and I don't have a date yet, however I am trying to do protein drinks for breakfast and lunch and a small dinner. My favorite breakfast has been vanilla protein powder, water, ice, and 1/2 cup frozen mango. Is this a no no? Is this something I could do post op or is it too many calories or carbs? I don't seem to see anyone having fruit.
Any advice would be very appreciated.
Nikki
I think I've read on here, that berries are the wisest choice for the losing stage. I'm sure some vets will chime in with better advice.

Good for you getting a jump on things before your surgery! Regarding the mangos, it really depends o. How low carb you want to go. With 14 grams I. That serving size, I personally wouldn't choose it. Two options - cut the mangos to a quarter cup, or use 1/2 cup (or less) of strawberries for a much lower carb (and calorie) count. Hope that helps. Looking forward to seeing you on the Losers Bench.

A couple times a week I add 1/4 cup of blueberries, 1/4 cup frozen spinach, and 1/4 of a frozen banana to my shakes. However, I didn't start adding fruit in until after 6 months. I still make sure to keep my carbs under 40 g a day. I will not add Mango until I get to maintenance.
