Confused
So now that im 7 weeks out and have realized that im basically on the atkins diet now... lol.. my question is .. when I eat salad for example, is it better to use full fat ranch or light ranch? Im asking because of the fact that full fat ranch has much less carbs than the light.. but the light has much less calories. It seems that most low fat foods are high in carbs.. and most high carb foods are lower in fat and calories... so what is better for me?

Look at it this way, we need dietary fat in our diets. It is necessary for survival. It lubricates your joints, you skin, your hair, your nails, etc. It is also necessary to consume dietary fat for fat soluble vitamin absorption. Dietary fat also keeps you full longer. Carbs make you hungry sooner.
We do not and never have needed white carbs. Fat is what flavors food. When they take the fat out of food they have to replace the flavor and they do that one of two ways. Sugar or... a chemical chit storm such as Waldon Farms products.
We didn't get fat from dietary fat, we got fat from white carbs. Have you ever in your life heard a binger admit that they decided to sneak downstairs in the basement and binge on a garden salad with full fat dressing? Noooo, they binge on white carbs. Cookies, a bag of candy, a bag of fritos, a cake/pie/name your white carb filled food.
Eat your dietary fat, dump the carbs, enjoy the flavor of your food.
Hello! I am 3 weeks PRE-op, and I'm sorting through protein shakes to find what I like so that I don't end up in a situation like yours! And GOOD news, I've found some pretty tasty ones! I had seen several posts here about the Syntrax Matrix powdered shakes - the mint cookie in particular - and ordered some on Amazon to try out. It's REALLY good. it has 25 grams of protein per scoop serving. I'll admit that it is a TINY bit on the chunky side considering that we aren't able to thin out a scoop with more liquid, BUT the chunk factor isn't unpleasant. Honestly, it tasted like a melty ThinMint milkshake! I absolutely CANNOT deal with chalky texture when it comes to protein shakes, and this one is not insulting in that regard. I've also ordered the Cookies and Cream version, which should arrive tomorrow.
As for the salad question, my nutritionist told me that, with a sleeve, we aren't really supposed to have salads PERIOD considering that we don't need all of that fiber content. She says we need protein first so that our sleeve fills with that and takes longer to digest.
Good luck! I can't wait to be where you are!
