Iron Supplements for the VSG

I was noticing people talking about the iron supplement they take.  Do those of us that are getting the VSG or already have need to take Iron or is there enough in our multi-vitamin?

I'm brand new to this forum today.  I am having my VSG on July 15th.

Welcome!  Hopefully you find this site helpful during your weight loss journey.  My program has me taking 29mg of iron (with vitamin C) on top of my multi-vitamin.  I also take calcium and B-12. 

Okay.  I will talk to them when I see the doctor after my procedure.  I have started the BB multi-vitamin, 1000 MG of Vitamin C, a Sublingual B-12 but just 2 times a week and also Calcium Citrate with Vit d 1500 MG. 

And just to double check,  you had the VSG and not the by-pass?

Hey. I don't need to take iron and haven't since the start. Your surgical team or PCP should be taking your bloods every 3 months and will keep an eye of your levels of things.

Daily I only take 2 multis and an acid tablet. Every other day, I add a B12.

I have added Biotin to help with my hair regrowth and I do think that has helped it grow quicker (but it won't stop it falling out)

Talk to your team about your specific needs.

My dd had her sleeve almost three years ago and she has had to take a prescription iron, but she had problems before.  I don't take iron but, I'm older so don't have that problem
