Surgery on Thursday... IF I pass my cardiac workup tomorrow....little frustrated....

Well, I just left my pre-op appointment for my surgery this Thursday and the anesthesiologist is making me go for a full cardiac work up due to an abnormal EKG. My surgeon looked at the EKG a couple of weeks ago and did not think it was an issue, so I am a little frustrated!! The anesthesiologist also acted like she was upset at me for being on a pain patch! (I apologize for having degenerative disk disease and multiple bulging disks up and down my spine!!!) She said that they should use different medicines instead of the pain patch. HELLO YOU ARE NOT MY PCP!!!!!! IMHO, she is upset because she will have to do an extra calculation, because my pain patch contains the same medicine used to put me to sleep.

Of course I don't want to go into surgery if I have a problem with my heart, but I have always had abnormal EKGs and the extra tests have never showed anything else. Thankfully  I was able to schedule an Echo and stress test for tomorrow, so I will still make my surgery date if they are okay. I don't want to have go through this 2 week liquid diet again!!!!!!!!!!!

I am losing a ton of weight thanks to the liquid diet, so that is a plus!! (Even though this is probably the hardest thing I've ever done!)

I had a borderline EKG so I feel your frustration. Just know a year from now when you are post sleeve you barely remember thi****ch.

It took my cardiologist two weeks after the stress test before he analyzed everything. Slowed up mine about a month.

Wow! I really hope that doesn't happen to me! They sent me to a cardiologist's office that specifically only performs Echo and Stress tests. I can't imagine starting the two week liquid diet again!

Oh man! That sounds like a bit of a mess and I can totally understand why you would be so frustrated. I hope that everything turns out perfect tomorrow and you have no delay in your surgery
