Hi. I am getting the sleeve in about a month. Did anyone read any books that they would suggest for others to read that had the sleeve or are getting it? I have seen some books online about it, and they have very good reviews, but I think it's always good to get another opinion from someone who has read the books directly.

The psychologist that works with my surgeons program recommends reading The Beck Diet Solution: Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person

I'll second this recommendation.

VSG by Nick Nicholson in 2013. Revised to DS 2/23/2023 by Chad Carlton.

I just read Jen Larsen's Stranger Here about her bariatric weight loss journey and found it interesting.

I also ordered the book you see advertised here, Successful Weight Loss with the Gastric Sleeve by Dr. Guillermo Alvarez.  It's a short book but packed with useful information for pre and post-op.  I've not had my surgery yet but I plan on keeping this book close at hand once I do.  http://www.thegastricsleeve.com/

Best of luck to you!

I have Deb's book and definitely recommend it!

If you change nothing, nothing will change.

The first book I read about vsg was The Sleeved Life by Pennie Nicola.  It's a basic overall account of the surgery and living with the sleeve.  It was okay, most everything in the book I had already known and researched.

If you want to really delve into nutrition and a further understanding of obesity, I would highly recommend Why Calories Count by Nestle & Neishem.  The authors do a really good job of reviewing all of the existing research...it's not another diet book.

I have also recently picked up The End of Overeating by Kessler and What to Eat by Nestle.

Weight loss surgery for dummies, hate the title but it really has everything you ever wanted to know, plus recipes.  ....
