So I plan on having VSG in October and was wondering how much time I will need to take off to recover.  I was thinking 3 weeks.

How much time did you take off before going back to work?

I don't have surgery until the 21st. But my surgeon put me out for an automatic two.

i think it really depends on how you are doing.  i took 2 weeks off, but my doc said that if i had to lift anything over 15 pounds, I'd be out for 4 weeks.  I don't think I could have done less than 2 weeks off.

I just had my VSG on 8/8.... I have my own business and was back to 1/2 days by Day 6.  By Day 12, I'll be back to full time.

It depends on whether you have a desk job or one that requires you to be on your feet.

Congrats on your decision!  One week and no regrets on my end!!

Probably depends on what you do for work. I have a desk job and I only had a week of vacation time. One of those days was used for travel time, so I only had 6 days before I went back. I would have liked to take a few more days, but it was doable.

I have my surgery on 9/12.  If all goes well I could go back to work in 2 weeks. I decided to take 3 weeks.  I wanted that extra week to make sure I was feeling good and getting my food and water in.  I have not ever taken 3 weeks off from work.  I am looking forward to a nice break, even if it is because of surgery!

I have a desk job, an took 2 weeks off.  When I went back, I only worked half days for the first couple days, until I knew I was up to working a whole day.

Hi All.  New here.   I had surgery on 8/12 at 4PM and was home on 8/14 at 5PM.  All went well.  I work in a home office and have done some already this morning.  I plan to be back at work on 8/19, hopefully full time.  I could see if you have to do any type of lifting or on your feet alot for your job, you would probably need more time off.

I have a desk job.  Surgery on Friday, home on Sunday, back to running around and doing errands on Tuesday.  Went back to work the next Monday and I was fine.

Three weeks sounds pretty extensive.  If you've got the time and it won't impact your work, go ahead and take it.   I just didn't want to burn all that time when I didn't really need to.
